🌟 Interview Experience – FloQast

🧪 Round 1: Online Assessment (OA)

  • The Online Assessment consisted of 3 DSA problems,

🧠 Round 2: Technical Interview

  • The interview began with a detailed discussion on my internship experience, where I was asked to:

    • Explain my role and contributions
    • Justify technical decisions
    • Discuss challenges faced and how I resolved them
  • This was followed by 2 LeetCode Medium–level DSA problems.

  • My approach during problem-solving:

    • Started with a brute-force solution to establish correctness

    • Gradually optimized the solution while clearly explaining:

      • Time and space complexity
      • Trade-offs between different approaches
      • All edge cases and constraints
  • The interviewer focused heavily on:

    • Depth of understanding rather than just the final answer
    • Clarity of thought and structured reasoning
    • Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively
  • Both problems were solved within the interview, with optimized solutions and thorough explanations.

🧩 Round 3: Managerial Interview

  • The round started with an introduction, but with a unique twist.

  • The interviewer explicitly mentioned:

“I don’t want to know about your technical experience. I want to know you as a person.” This was followed by a discussion on:

    • My hobbies
    • My background
    • Why I chose Computer Engineering
  • After the discussion, I was given open-ended problem statements:

    1. A college has three departments, and there is a subject that students from any department can opt for. The subject needs to be scheduled for 40 hours in a semester. How would you design the schedule?
    2. There are four electives, and a student can choose any two. How would you design a timetable to ensure there are no clashes or conflicts?
  • These questions were intentionally ambiguous and tested:

    • Ability to ask clarifying questions
    • Understanding of constraints and assumptions
    • Translating real-world problems into structured solutions
  • I approached them similar to system design interviews:

    • Clarified inputs and outputs
    • Identified constraints
    • Proposed a step-by-step, scalable solution
  • The focus was clearly on thinking process, communication, and decision-making, not on textbook answers.

🧑‍💼 Round 4: HR Interview

  • This was a standard HR round covering:

    • Behavioral questions
    • Cultural fit
    • Career goals
  • Compensation and role expectations were also discussed in detail.

  • The round felt more like a two-way discussion rather than an interrogation.

âś… Final Verdict

  • Selected 🎉
  • Out of all candidates, only 5 students received offers, making the process extremely selective.

✨ Key Takeaways

  • FloQast’s interview process strongly emphasizes:

    • Depth over surface-level knowledge
    • Structured thinking
    • Communication and authenticity
  • Being clear, honest, and methodical mattered more than memorized answers.
